This tour shows you the greatest synagogue of Germany today (2000 seats) and how the small Jewish community of East Berlin organized Jewsih life during communist era. During the last 15 years this neighborhood became a new center of Jewish life. Visit the little memorial for Jewish children which was created by highschool students. In spring 2007 a new orthodx rabbinic seminary will be opened. The cemetery “Schoenhauser Allee” is worth seeing. The painter Max Liebermann, the scholar Leopold Zunz, the composer Giacomo Meyerbeer and many well known Jews are burried there.
